I was born and raised in Memphis, TN. The first 14 years of my life, I lived with my mom, great-grandmother and two younger brothers. I moved in with my father and two of my older sisters a few months before I turned 15.
My mom took me to get my first library card when I was seven years old and I've been in love with books ever since.
I used to spend hot summer days in the library reading everything I could get my hands on. Any kind of child adventure story caught my attention until I discovered boys that is. That's when I switched to reading romance novels as well as the erotica my mom had supposedly hid under her bed.
Around 10th grade, mysteries and suspense became my favorites. As an adult I went from reading only books written by African American authors to reading just about any author that I found interesting...mostly Sue Grafton, James Patterson, Janet Evanovich and last but not least my girl Zane (The Queen of Erotica).
I wrote my first collection of short stories in the fifth grade. It was about twenty pages of semi-erotica. My teacher had a few choice words for me after hearing about my book from one of the boys I had wrote about. Needless to say I was cured from writing dirty stories until I became an adult.
My interest in poetry began when I was in the 8th grade after my Advanced English teacher forced each student to stand in front of the class and recite "Annabell Lee" by Edgar Allen Poe. Poetry became my new favorite and still is to this day.
I am currently working on two novels. One is a women's fiction novel entitled, Her Leftovers. It's about Quintina Mitchell, a young woman who's on a constant search for love, that often ends up being one of the many ex's of her nemesis. The other is a detective/mystery called Wrongfully Accused told from the point of view of main character, Sandra "Sassy" Johnson (@SassySandraJ on Twitter).
As you can tell my writings consist of poetry, short stories and novels. The subject matters range from family, jobs and sex. Sometimes I write sweet, sometimes naughty and other times humorous.
My biggest inspiration is my son. Without him, I would not have built up the courage to pursue writing professionally.
You know that I'm a Pisces
Which means I'm kinda feisty
Having had my little baby
Has helped me keep my sanity
